Kelli is a proven expert in the international trade arena, with over 15 years of experience. She worked for United States Customs and Border Protection ("CBP") from 2007-2014, where she became an expert in classification, valuation, rules of origin, free trade agreements, anti-dumping and countervailing duty, and other trade topics relevant to regulating the importation of merchandise into the United States.
While at U.S. Customs and Border Protection, she led Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Verification Teams for apparel/textiles to substantiate rules of origin and FTA compliance. During her career, she has visited approximately 200 factories worldwide to verify and evaluate companies' supply chains and FTA compliance.
Kelli has a master's in management, is a Licensed Customs Broker, and has served as a Customs Revenue Advisor to the United States Government. In this role, she advises developing countries on customs revenue and trade modernization, including support in understanding and implementing the complex provisions of the World Trade Organization Trade Facilitation Agreement. Kelli is regularly called upon by some of the nation's most prestigious law firms to serve as an expert witness on customs-related matters. Ms. Thompson has testified as an expert by deposition and trial.
